    OPELOUSAS - Funeral services will be held Wednesday, October 23, 2013 at a 12:00 p.m. Mass of Christian Burial in Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Washington for Herman John Hebert, age 82, who passed away Monday, October 21, 2013 at Lafayette General Medical Center in Lafayette.

    Interment will be in Cedar Hill Cemetery in Washington. The Rev. Jared Suire will officiate at the services. Readers will be Amy Griffin, Amanda Castille and Keisha Castille. Giftbearers will be Jacqueline Wilson, Laure Moseley and Casey Soileau. Eucharistic ministers will be Sheila Carriere and Jim Soileau. Eulogy will be read by Nicholas Ducote and Albert Ortego, Jr.

    Mr. Hebert was a native of Leonville and a lifelong resident of Washington. He was employed with Cleco Electrical Company for thirty two years. Mr. Hebert's primary focus was his family, friends and church. In his free time he enjoyed wood working and playing with his great grandchildren. A parishioner of Immaculate Conception Catholic Church he served as a Eucharistic Minister and reader. He gifted the community with his talents and willingness to serve when needed.

    Survivors include his loving wife of sixty two years Helen Ortego Hebert of Washington; one son, Johnny Hebert of Garland; five daughters, Shelia Carriere and her husband, Michael, of Opelousas, Susan Castille and her husband, Al, of New Roads, Rhonda Bordelon of Opelousas, Karen Ducote and her husband, Ricky, of Washington and Jill Soileau and her husband, Jim, of Opelousas; eight grandchildren, Brandon Castille and his wife, Amanda, Lance Castille and his wife, Keisha, Jacqueline Wilson and her husband, Geoffrey, Laure Moseley and her husband, Josh, Nicholas Ducote, Amy Griffin and her husband, Beau, Eric Soileau and his wife, Casey, and Dustin Hebert; and seven great grandchildren, Joseph Castille, Ethan Castille, Zoe Castille, Caroline Wilson, Sammy Griffin, Christian Speyrer and Jimmy Griffin.

    He was preceded in death by his parents Jean Baptiste Hebert and the former Lillian Miller.

    A rosary will be prayed at 7:00 p.m. Tuesday in the funeral home.

    The family requests that visiting hours be observed from 4:00 p.m. until 9:00 p.m. Tuesday and will continue from 7:30 a.m. until service time on Wednesday.

    Pallbearers will be his grandsons along with Beau Griffin, Geoffrey Wilson and Josh Moseley.

    In Lieu of Flowers, donations in the name of Herman John Hebert may be made to St. Jude Research Hospital or Immaculate Conception Catholic Church.
