    Dalton "Bulla" Belson, Jr.

    SUNSET -

    Funeral services will be held Saturday, March 14, 2015 at an 11:00 a.m. Mass of Christian Burial in St. Charles Borromeo Roman Catholic Church for Dalton "Bulla" Belson, Jr., age 75, who passed away Friday, March 6, 2015 at 8:40 a.m. in Sunset.

    Interment will be in St. Charles Borromeo Cemetery in Grand Coteau. The Rev. Derrick Weingartner, pastor of St. Charles Borromeo Catholic Church, will officiate at the services.

    Mr. Belson was a native and lifelong resident of Sunset, where he was a city councilman for District 2 since 1989. He was a member of the Citizens for Progress in Sunset. Mr. Belson was a member of the Knights of Peter Clavier. He worked in insurance sales and for PSI in the oilfield.

    Survivors include his wife the former, Theresa Adams of Sunset; his children, Antoinette Goodly and her husband, John Mark, of Missouri City, TX Vanessa Taylor and her husband, John "Tippy" of Opelousas, Marvin Jerome Belson and his wife, Kathy, of Sunset, Brennon Belson of Atlanta, GA and Roderick Belson of New Orleans; eleven grandchildren, Quentin Belson and his wife, Dannella, Tiffany Burrell and her husband, Braddley, Kellen Goodly, Sr. and his wife, Brandi, Timothy Taylor, Shaquille Belson, Kory Goodly, Nicholas Belson, Darius Calais, Kristopher Goodly, Kelci Belson and Brianna Belson; seven great grandchildren, Kaelin Belson, Dae'von Simon, Destiny Simon, Jayla Belson, Halle Burrell, Kellen Goodly, Jr., Kaitlyn Goodly; two brothers, Jerry Belson and his wife, Jo Ann, of Atlanta, GA and Craig Belson and his wife, Brenda, of Sunset; and four sisters, Jo Ann Shaw and her husband, Julius Lloyd, of Sunset, Elrose Mayfield and her husband, Marcelin, of Lafayette. Peggy Belson and Linda Belson, both of Sunset; two Godchildren Peggy Belson & Letreece Jackson; and a host of nieces, nephews, relatives and dear friends.

    He was preceded in death by his parents, Joseph Dalton Belson, Sr. and the former, Elrose Guilbeaux; one brother, Lionel Belson; and one sister, Patricia Jackson.

    A rosary will be prayed at 7:00 p.m. Friday in the funeral home.

    The family requests that visiting hours be observed from 5:00 p.m. until 10:00 p.m. Friday and will continue from 8:00 a.m. until service time on Saturday.

    Pallbearers will be Quentin J. Belson, Kellen M. Goodly, Sr., Timothy J. Taylor, Shaquille O. Belson, Kory M. Goodly and Nicholas S. Belson. Honorary pallbearers will be Darius Calais, Allen Charles, John M. Goodly, Charles James, Joneil Belson, Craig Belson, Sr., Jerry Belson, John F. Taylor, Kenneth Adams and Christopher Monroe.
